Clyde Lake Loop

It was a long time coming.  My 6-year-old, Ellory, finally got her turn out with dad.  This daddy-daughter trip would take us into the Uintas, where we would backpack what has been dubbed the "Seventeen Lakes Loop" and include a little day hike to the Notch. The main objective, though, was to try and land a first fish for Ellory.

All Alone in Naturalist Basin

For the month of June, my shift at work has me getting Tuesdays and Wednesdays off.  I had Naturalist Basin penciled in for the last week of June.  Due to wet and muddy conditions earlier in the month in the area I had planned a daddy-daughter trip with my second oldest, I decided to allow a couple more weeks for it to dry out and green up and postponed that trip until the final week.  So now I had a free "weekend" the third week of June.

In a spur of the moment decision, I asked my wife, Jessica, if she'd be alright with me dropping her and the kids off at her parents' place for the night in Park City while I backpacked up to Naturalist Basin.  It was like an early Father's Day gift when she ok'd it.

Grove Creek - Battle Creek Loop

I was hoping to take each of my older girls on daddy-daughter trips in the Uintas, expecting most snow to be melted out early this year.  That didn't happen.  My oldest daughter, Willow, didn't want to drive that far either; and, I missed out on a loop hike up Grove Creek and down Battle Creek I had planned to do earlier in May due to my wife, Jess, going into a false labor with our infant son (born 2 weeks later). Rather than making the long drive into the wet and muddy Uintas, I took my oldest, Willow, and made the short drive to Grove Creek.  Win - Win.

Father Son Campout - 2015

Every year our local church congregation sponsors a father-sons campout.  My 2 (almost 3) year old boy, Lennox, is of the age to really start enjoying them now.

Silver Lake

At the beginning of the year, I penciled in a number of backpacking, hiking, and camping trips for 2015.  For June, that included daddy-daughter trips with each of my girls and a father-sons outing.  June finally arrived and with the first week, I took my four-year-old daughter, Raylee, up to where I had enjoyed my first ever backpacking experience. Silver Lake.
