Buffalo Peak

Buffalo Peak is a small and obscure peak that sits between Provo's more famous Squaw Peak and Cascade Mountain.  I took my family there for an after school hike to enjoy some fall colors.  Afterwards we'd wander through what I refer to as 'Cascade Meadow', a beautiful meadow that rests under Cascade Mountain.  It is extremely popular among photographers.

After the kids got out of school, we loaded up in the car and headed up the Squaw Peak Road for 'Cascade Meadow'.  There we parked, got out, and skirted the edges of the big meadow as we followed the trail up to Buffalo Peak.

Once at the top of Buffalo Peak, we took a nice long rest and enjoyed the views of the Utah Valley and Utah Lake below to the west, Mount Timpanogos to the north, and Cascade Mountain to the east.

We eventually made our way back down the mountain as many more families and other groups began to arrive to hike the same.

In a short while we were back down at the top of Cascade Meadow where we wandered down through it a bit and let the kids do a little bit of wandering and exploring on their own.  Heaps of other people were scattered about in the meadow as well with more arriving every minute it seemed.  Some were taking bridal photos, others family portraits, others just the landscape and the popping fall colors.  This little area is known to be a photographer mecca.

As shown below, I took quite a few photos myself.

It was a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon in a beautiful setting with the family.
